Be....

Today we welcomed our Class of 2019, '20, '21, and '22, into the halls for yet another school year.  Although there are wide array of emotions those students bring into the building on the first day, I tend to gravitate to those that come back with a renewed sense of enthusiasm.  We're all in better spirits when you're around individuals that just exude confidence and enthusiasm.

So, in this 2018-19 school year, we are living the theme of "BE....".

BE...Enthusiastic!
BE...Inspiring!
BE...Patient, Prepared, Epic, Motivated, Positive...etc, etc, etc.

So what is your "BE" going to be for 2018-19?

When thinking about my "BE", I couldn't help but reflect on a story I heard about Dabo Sweeney, Head Football Coach at Clemson University.

In 2008, amidst a coaching search for their next Head Football Coach, the Board of Trustees interviewing Coach Sweeney, explained to him that they wanted in their next coach and program...They wanted to "'BE' like those other schools - (Stanford, Notre Dame, Ohio State) with great academics and great football."

Coach Sweeney's response to that profile for the next Head Football Coach, was simply priceless and one that I think we should all carry with us throughout the 2018-19 school year and beyond.  Coach Sweeney responded to the Board with this.
"No disrespect, but that's NOT my vision at all...My vision is to create a program where all those other schools you mentioned want to 'BE' like us!"

Obviously, Coach Sweeney was granted that opportunity to transform the Clemson Football program and the results, the vision of his "BE" has certainly been proven.

So as you explore what your "BE" is going to be this year...don't be afraid to "BE" Bold...you might just find your "BE" is trans formative to yourself, a program, or others.

"BE DRIVEN" and GO JACKETS!
